Italian barbute helmet

Italian barbute helmet, Wallace collection, London. 15th century CE.

A helmet closed on all sides, with two curved openings for the eyes, separated by a short nose guard. The openings are joined with the vertical slit for the nose and mouth, in a shape vaguely resembling the letter Y.
